We just got nominated for a Webby Award for A People’s Climate.
Out of more than 13,000 global entries, the show landed in the top 11% in its category—and we’re currently in a tight race for the Webby’s People’s Voice Award.
If you’ve been listening or following along, we’d love your support! 🗳️ VOTE HERE [Voting is open until Thursday, April 16th]
This nomination is a signal: independent, frontline-centered storytelling belongs at the top, alongside the biggest names in media—and that narrative must be defined by the communities living it, not by institutions, tech bros, or the 1%.
Before A People’s Climate, there was People over Plastic. That project started in my garage when my first son was eight months old. What began as a small, scrappy experiment with a really dedicated team, grew into a global audience and five seasons of storytelling rooted in environmental justice. That momentum ultimately led us to build something bigger in partnership with The Nation.
From the beginning, the goal was simple: build the megaphone to share the stories that don’t usually make it into mainstream coverage, and ensure lived experience is central—not peripheral—to how we understand this moment and move towards real, systemic change.
Also, quick note on the gap here. I stepped back from writing the last few months because my arms were not having it (bad ergonomics + carrying my son/koala bear is a brutal combination for those of us who love to write). I’m easing back into a rhythm now.
There’s a lot more coming this year: a new season, new collaborations, and a few projects I’m excited to share soon.
Thanks so much for being here! And please spread the word!
